NC Defense Footprint Has Room to Grow
North Carolina's defense economy has grown significantly since the 2005 BRAC decisions were announced. At that time, North Carolina's military installations and related industry were reported to have an $18 billion impact on the state's economy. Today, that figure is $23.4 billion.
Through the addition of U.S. Army Forces Command and Army Reserve Command to Fort Bragg, Marine Corps Special Operations Command to Camp Lejeune and the addition of 11,500 Marines through the Grow the Force initiative, North Carolina's defense footprint is growing strongly and will have an even greater impact on the state in future years.
