Study Finds UNC Graduates Add $7 Billion to State Economy

A study by NC State faculty member Dr. Mike Walden finds that each year's UNC graduating class can be expected to add more than $7 billion to the state's economy during their lifetime, over and above what they would have made absent a four year degree. In all the total impact of the system on the state each year, not counting construction, salaries and spending, tops $10 billion. If UNC were a private industry, it would be the state's 11th largest.
