UNC Defense Applications Group (UNCDAG)

The UNC Defense Applications Group (UNCDAG) is a multi-disciplinary group of UNC faculty and staff who seek to solve applied research and development challenges presented by USASOC.

Applied Research Challenges:   The UNCDAG focuses exclusively on Warfighter capability gaps and challenges identified by USASOC.  While such capability gaps and challenges will align with USASOC priorities, resulting materiel solutions will ultimately benefit the special operations community, the Army community and the intelligence community.  Such challenges include, but are not limited to, the following:    

  • Force Protection, Soldier System, Medical
  • Command, Control, Communications, Computers (C4)
  • Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR)
  • Non-Lethal Engagement and Visual Augmentation
  • Unmanned Systems
  • Air/Ground Mobility
  • Breaching
  • Chemical/Biological/Radiological/Nuclear (CBRN) & Counterproliferation
