Phased Retirement Program for Tenured Faculty

On May 11, 2001, the UNC Board of Governors adopted the Innovations in Faculty Work Life Committee's Report and Recommendations Concerning the University of North Carolina's Phased Retirement Program for Tenured Faculty.  The Committee recommended that the Phased Retirement Program be continued beyond the five-year trial period.

An annual Report on the Phased Retirement Program is issued, usually in November.

Early Development of the Program

Updates on Continuing the UNC Phased Retirement Program for Tenured Faculty were presented to the Board of Governors Personnel and Tenure Committee in November 2001, 2002, and 2003.

Two surveys of participants were conducted during fall semester 2003 and described in Surveys of Phased Retirement Program Participants.
